Ballymacad raffles promising event horse
How could you acquire a promising young event horse for €20 (£15.80)?
The Ballymacad Foxhounds, from County Meath in Ireland are raffling a seven-year-old sport horse, “fit and ready to start eventing”, to raise funds to develop schooling facilities on some recently acquired land.
The grey gelding, called Positive Impact, is bred in the purple by Accondi out of a Cruising mare. He has won show jumping points and been produced by Irish international riders Alex Butler and Steve Smith. Last year an offer of €30,000 (£23,800) for the horse was turned down, upholding the hunt committee's decision to raffle the sport horse.

This is the second — and final — time the Ballymacad hunt will raffle a horse. Last year, they bought a hunter for €8,800 (£7,000) and raised €30,000 (£23,800) for the hunt through raffle tickets.
Although the raffle winner will not be strictly “vetted” as a new owner, there will be publicity and follow-up on the horse's progress.
Raffle tickets can be purchased on www.ballymacadhunt.com or call Anne-Marie on 00353 (0)872336205.
The prize will be drawn on Friday 10 October.
