German event rider killed in horse trials fall

German event rider Tina Richter-Vietor was killed on Saturday after being thrown from her horse at the German military championships. She was aged 32.

She was riding Paulchen Panther, on whom she had won a gold and three bronze medals at the European military championships.

One jumping competition took place after the accident, before the rest of the event was cancelled.
