The best world riders will all gather at Le Haras national du Pin from August 22nd to 25th for the 18th edition of Le Grand Complet. It will be the last major event in Ornem before the launching of the WEG.
A NEW DESIGN FOR THE XCOUNTRY TRACK
Since 2010, Le Grand Complet has been held in the magnificent Hautbois park at the Haras national du Pin. Teams are working hard at the moment to prepare the WEG dressage arena and xcountry track to host these tests. Course designer Pierre Le Goupil has thus designed a completely new course.
New this year : the pony section 3 series are planned :
– CIC* mostly attracts 6 year old horses starting competing at international level, junior riders and novice riders who want to compete with professional ones.
– CIC*** for advanced competitors preparing the end of the season toughest events (Blenheim, Burghley)
– CCIP* the novelty of this year’s edition which will be the very first pony event in France since 2008 (apart from European championship). This initiative, highly supported by Irish and British team trainers, has been pushed forward by the record ponies frequentation registered these last 2 years. Pony riders will get the opportunity to compete along with the best world riders.
THE BEST RIDERS IN THE WORLD AT LE GRAND COMPLET
The event is well known for attracting the largest number of foreign competitors in France. In 2012, no less than 32 foreign riders took part in the CIC*** out of the 52 participants. 16 nations were represented last year (NZ, Australia, GB, Belgium, Germany, Japan, Italy to name but a few).
The European, World and brand newly crowned Olympic champion Michael Jung reiterated success at last year edition, winning the major class with Halunke. He declared that he would definitely come with Sam, his top horse, in 2013 to get ready for the WEG.
The Australian Clayton Fredericks led the CIC** up to the end with Brookleigh, tackled by Nicolas Touzaint and Princess Pilot.. Belgian rider Karin Donkers won the World Cup after her 3rd place there.
CONVIVIALITY AND ATMOSTHERE
Supported by the IFCE (Institut Français du Cheval et de l’Equitation), the OC Ustica is driven by the aim to welcome the most prestigeous riders and horses in the best possible conditions. The focus are put on the horses’ comfort, the quality of the competing facilities, the riders and visitors hosting conditions.
This year, the shopping village will be enlarged with new names, more than 30 stands being already booked.
Let’s acknowledge that without the devoted support of more than 200 volunteers, this adventure called Le Grand Complet wouldn’t exist.
