Boyd Exell out of action…

Congratulations to four-in-hand driver and British Team trainer Boyd Exell and his wife Preetha on the birth of their son James Michael on 10th January.

On a sadder note, Boyd has been involved in another accident and will be out of action with a broken hip for a couple of months. It appears that he was hit by a car while driving a tandem. His groom suffered a broken ankle and some bruises but fortunately the horses were OK.

Boyd Exell lives primarily in Leicester, England, where he is a professional carriage driving instructor and trainer.
Born in Bega, Australia, Boyd has been involved in equestrian sport since he was 8 years old.

He was a Member of the Australian team at World Singles Championships in Ebbs 1998. Trainer of the British pony team drivers for World Championships at Saumur 1999 and Karlstetten 2003. Second in the FEI Pairs Top Driver Award 2001 and the Four-in-hand Top Driver Award in 2003. Three times British National Champion – single horse (2000) and four-in-hand (2002 and 2003). In 2003 he won the prestigious CAIO at Aachen (GER) and in 2004 the International Driving Grand Prix at Royal Windsor (GBR).

Together with Michael Freund (Germany) and Chester Weber (USA) he is a member of the Global Driving Team.
