The Dutch four-in-hand drivers performed very strond this evening in the FEI World Cup™ Driving competition at Jumping Amsterdam, presented by Stichting Vierspan Westland. Title defender Ijsbrand Chardon won this first duel, ahead of his compatriots Koos de Ronde and World Cup debutant Edwin van der Graaf. Both Chardon and Van der Graaf received a wild card, as well as Herman ter Harmsel.
Dutch international course designer Joop Brink had designed a very nice and challenging course in which technical elements and speed were very well balanced. All drivers competed in two rounds over the same course, the second round was decisive for the starting order for tomorrow’s World Cup competition.
Tomas Eriksson came fourth, ahead of Dutch driver Herman ter Harmsel who also competed in a World Cup competition for the first time. Belgium’s Gert Schrijvers followed on the sixth place, ahead of Theo Timmerman and Werner Ulrich.
Ulrich lost precious seconds when he forgot to take gate 11 and had to drive an extra circle.
