Gothenburg: Michael Freund makes a good start

Germany’s Michael Freund has won the warming up competition of the FEI World Cup Driving Final in Göteborg this evening. Cheered by almost 12.000 spectators he passed the finish line with a clear round in the fastest time. Freund has herewith put himself in an excellent starting position for Sunday’s Final, in which he is last to start.

Dutch driver Koos de Ronde finished less than two seconds behind him and ended on the second place.

For De Ronde the competition in Göteborg started off badly. One of his horses was severely injured during the trip to Sweden and cannot be used for some time. “Luckily he was my spare horse, but I hope nothing happens now to one of my other horses.”

Freund’s compatriot Christoph Sandmann had one knock down and came third, ahead of home driver Tomas Eriksson, Ijsbrand Chardon and Jozsef Dobrovitz.
