The Portuguese Equestrian Federation (FEP), represented by its vice-president, Paulo Branco, signed yesterday (30th January) in Doha – Qatar – with the Qatar Foundation, a sponsoring for the FEI European Endurance Championship «Open» 2007 for an amount of 100.000 €.
The event was officially presented in Qatar, at 19h00, at a press conference. Following the many applications, Portugal was the country chosen by the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) to organise the FEI European Endurance Championship «Open» 2007.
This Championship that will be held in Portugal on the 8th of September 2007, at Companhia das Lezírias and Barroca D’Alva (Alcochete), is a first time event in Portugal in what concerns equestrian sport but also regarding any other sport, where our country sees, once again, the recognition for its merit in the excellency of organization of events of prominence at a world-wide scale.
This is an unparallel opportunity to launch the name of Portugal in this discipline, that each time attracts more fans, and of placing strategically in the worldwide route of the equestrian tourism and the international competition, giving to know its attributes and the natural resources of the surrounding zone to Lisbon.
This event that gathers about 150 riders and worldwide Endurance fans, and for which are expected more than 30 countries represente with a meaningful presence from countries of the Middle East besides the U.S.A., New Zeeland, Australia and great a part of the European countries, also expects an important international media covering, namely, with the presence of Al Jazeera, Equidia and Eurosport.
At this moment, there are other institutional supports in Portugal that are being concluded, and it’s the beginning of another challenge for the Country in the organization of a first time event at a national scale, and with an undeniable impact.
