Trakehner Stallion Market – the market place for exquisite quality

The 54th Trakehner Stallion Market, from 20th to 23rd October, is set to attract visitors, exhibitors and horse breeders from across the globe to the four-day event in Neumünster’s Holstenhallen.

At the very heart of the event will be this year’s Trakehner Stallion Licensing –  a selection of the finest young stallions from the world’s oldest riding horse breeder. It is the culmination of hopes, wishes and dreams, and preparations for the event demand a huge amount of effort, work and care from the breeders as they aim to present each and every young stallion as perfectly as possible.

For four solid days, the young Trakehner stallions will be put through their paces, being presented to the stallion licensing committee outside on hard ground and performing in the free jumping, as well as free running in the hall and the examination of the horses in hand. In addition to the two-year-old stallions, there will also be three-year-old stallions competing in the licensing, who must additionally be presented under the saddle. The decision as to which stallions are licensed will be followed on the Sunday morning by the awarding of the ‘champion stallion’ title and other prizes. This is the moment when tears of joy flow, people embrace and congratulations are exchanged.

Premiere of the Free Jumping Cup

The 54th Trakehner Stallion Market will be the first to offer a Free Jumping Cup, aimed at three- and four-year-old mares, geldings and unlicensed stallions. The Free Jumping Cup in Neumünster is supported by a group of people interested in promoting the Trakehners’ jumping abilities and boasts prize money of 2500 euros. Honorary prizes and prize money will be distributed amongst all the owners of the horses taking part in Neumünster.

Participating horses have had to qualify for the cup at the central examinations for the Trakehner Stallion Market. This opportunity was also available at the central mare registration.

Even more than just fabulous stallions

The Trakehner Stallion Market hosts auctions of mares, riding horses and foals, as well as those stallions not licensed. The carefully handpicked collections comprise the very best that the Trakehner breed has to offer: riding horses to meet the highest demands, some of whom have already received extensive training, foals of the very best lineages and mares with an exceptional breeding makeup.

The Trakehner Stallion Market will also see this year’s Champion Mare crowned – the Trakehner breed’s “beauty queen” – the creme de la creme from across all the breeding districts.

The gala is calling…

…and its call never fails to be heard. The Trakehner Stallion Market Gala Evening has acquired a cult status and offers pure entertainment for the whole family. The star of the evening is French dressage rider Alizée Froment, former national coach for the pony squad and dressage show expert. Froment rides her horses with a feather-light touch, with and without bridle or with just a neck ring. She demonstrates clearly just how beautiful, smooth, light and elegant work with horses can be.

And because the Gala Evening is always one of the four-day programme’s most popular events – tickets sell like hot cakes – there will be a pre-Gala on the Friday evening with an open rehearsal for Saturday’s Gala Evening. This offers a good alternative for those who have not managed to secure tickets for the Saturday but still want to dive into the world of horses.
