
Gerrit Nieberg and ‘Ping Pong van de Lentamel’ win the Equine América Grand Prix
The German rider, Gerrit Nieberg was the winner of the Equine America Grand Prix class today at the Tour, with the very fast 10yr old ‘gelding, ‘Ping Pong van de Lentamel’ who is by ‘Emerald’ from a ‘Toulon’ mare and owned by European Youngsters. They stormed around the 8 horse jump off coming in in 38.16s and taking a decisive win. This is their second big win here as they also took the Stephex Grand Prix on the ninth. In second place in 40.31s was Roy van Beek with ‘Cavoir-H OLD’ another 10yr old gelding, by ‘Casallco’ x ‘Calido I’ for Belgium. In third was Italian, Riccardo Pisani with ‘Chatolinue PS’ (‘Diablo Blanco’ x ‘Stakkatol’) in 41.40s. Fourth was Irish, Billy Twomey with ‘Jumping Jack van de Kalevallei’ and in fifth was Antonia Andersson for Sweden with ‘Bella PS’.
Gilles Thomas with ‘Qalista DN’ (‘Emerald Van’t Ruytershof’ x ‘Landetto’) for Belgium, was the winner of the other Ranking class today, the Medium Tour 1.50. He won the class in style in a 16 horse jump off in the Hickstead arena, the only pair clear in under 40s. This is his second big win here at the Tour as he won this same class last week.
Kendra Brinkop with the ever consistent ‘MA Belle’ took her third second place this week for Germany, the talented 13yr old mare is by ’Ugano Sitte’ x ‘Bayard D’Elle’ and owned by Stephex Stables. Brazilian, Joao Victor Castro was third with ‘Kenzo Quality Z’ (‘Kannan’ x ‘Con Air’); and German, Daniel Deusser continued in the rosettes today, in fourth with ‘Pepita Van’t Meulenhof BR’. In fifth was Monaco’s Anastasia Nielsen with ‘Dark Chocolate 48’ (‘Casall’ x ‘Acodetto 2’).
In the Small Tour 1.45 Ranking class the Swiss, Peter Burri had a commanding win coming in one second in front of the rider in second place, they stopped the clock in 39.50s with the 14yr old mare, ’Dubai 64’, by ‘Chin Champ’ x ‘Casall ’. Spanish rider, Jose Antonio García Diana was second in 40.57s with ‘Dearest Diamond RS’, who is by ‘Diamant de Semilly’ and owned by Cayetano Martínez de Irujo. Third was German, Karin Ernsting con ‘IB Queen’ (‘Quasimodo Z’ x ‘Whistler’); with four faults in fourth was Swiss, Emilia Paillot with ‘Glamour du Lys’ (‘Tobago Chevrier’ x ‘Poor Boy’) and in fifth, also on four, was the French rider, Apolline Cozien with ‘Dicosie de Clemaline’
The rest of the Big Tour results: French rider Alix Ragot was the winner of the 1.45 with ‘Gueule D’Amours’ (‘Contendro*GFE’ x ‘Narcos-II’); second was Belgian, Dimme D’Haese with ‘Baccarat du Tertre’; third, Kendra Brinkop with ‘Eau De Vi Jeelena DR Z’ and finishing off the placings, were the Spanish riders, Carolina Villanueva with ‘Beau Goss D’Amour’ and Jorge Sánchez with ‘Well Fier’.
Italian, Edoardo Ingrà and ‘Quyalityhens’ were the winners of the 1.35, with Hungarian Laszlo Toth and ‘Toll Central’ in second and Czech, Albert Pisarik and ‘Chapo 2’ in third.
The Belgian rider, Roy Van Beek was the winner of the Medium Tour 1.40 with ‘Frieda’ (‘Stakkato Gold’ x ‘Duntroon’); French rider, Alexis Goulex was second with ‘Kaylee’ and another Belgian took third, Lara Eggermont with ‘Kannet V.V. Rikse’.
In the 1.30, Yoni Van Santvoort from New Zealand was our winner with ‘Dilly Dally Z’, Moroccan, Yasir Arbain was second with ‘Copacabana Du Nord’and Spanish, Antonio Mariñas was third with ‘Qute Hero TC’.
In the 1.20 Cathal Daniels was our winner for Ireland with ‘Rioghan Rua’ followed by French rider, Gregoire Hercelin who took both of the following places, with ‘Cograna PS’ and then ‘Contifax PS’.
There was a Spanish win in the Small Tour 1.40 from Elena Appendino with ‘Grupo Prom Hacienda’. Second was British, Jessica Hewlett with ‘Invito’ and third was Italian, Giorgio Sacco with ‘Gaiac de Pience’.
British rider, Alex Bishop and ‘Thomascourt Emirates’ were the winners of the 1.30; with Jessica Hewlett taking second in this class with ‘Ilmar HBC’ and Irish rider, Marta Hughes-Bravo and ‘HHS Rose’ in third.
The Classic Tour results: The winner of the 1.35 GP was Italian, Camilla Bosio with ‘Harvesther’ in a 22 horse jump off; Stephen Wentzel and ‘WC Daytona’ were the winners of the 1.25 for Zimbabwe, and Irish, Sorcha Gamble and ‘My Sina VD Kalevallei’ won the 1.15.
That sums up the results for this second CSI4* of the Andalucía Sunshine Tour, kindly sponsored by the Junta de Andalucía, through the Consejería de Turismo y Andalucía Exterior, and the Diputación Provincial de Cádiz. Competition will start up on Tuesday for the Young Horses who will have the opportunity to add their last clear rounds to their tally, to qualify for the Finals which are on Wednesday for the 5, 6 and 7yr olds and Thursday for the 8yr olds.
