On the 8th of May, Colégio Vasco da Gama (Vasco da Gama School) warmly welcomed the thirty horseriding experts, all members of the A.B.R.S. – Association of British Riding Schools – whose annual convention was held in Portugal this year.
Escola de Equitação Colégio Vasco da Gama (riding school) has been a member of this prestigious Association for the last five years now. All the visitors had the chance of judging and enjoying the show presented to them, performed by some of the students of that Private School.
The first demonstration was presented by the little ones riding Shetland ponies, showing all their dexterity, balance and always keeping a tight rein on their performance. All this was surrounded by excellent background music and carried out in the most joyful atmosphere.
The distinct guests had also the chance to admire the skills of Catarina Garcia and Tânia Campeão with her pony “Papillon”, dancing “freely” with no saddle nor bridle and executing several ever so graceful movements in the different gates, sharing mutual confidence in a perfect understanding achieved in this man/animal relationship.
To put an end to this magnificent afternoon, the senior players of the Horseball Club Colégio Vasco da Gama presented a maximum dexterity show of a Horseball game and everybody was ravished by their beauty and advanced technique, even to those who had not been very interested in this activity before.
The pleasant meeting ended with a social gathering – afternoon tea – where everybody felt comfortable and spent time in the most friendly way, sharing presents and listening to the speech made by the Vice-Chairman of the Association, which made very proud those who shared the responsibility for running of both the Private School and the Riding School.
