Franz-Josef and Kate Dahlmann starting a job in China
The German Nation Cup rider Franz-Josef („Peppi“) Dahlmann and his wife Kate are moving to China at the beginning of March this year.
They will be in charge of the stable and sports management at the Beijing International Equestrian Club (BIEC) in Beijing.
After their commitment at the stable of the coach for the German show jumper Otto Becker and the stud Zangersheide of Belgian compatriot Léon Melchior, they will now venture to a new project in China. The idea of the new partnership was created by the international horse sport agency EN GARDE. Volker Wulff, who is in a long term partnership with the owner of the BIEC Mr. Zhang Baosheng, was the initiator of this new collaboration. At the end of last year he was told that the former rider of the club left due to personal reasons.
Relatively soon he pointed out that Franz-Josef and Kate were perfect for this position. The people in charge at the club were convinced very soon that not only an international successful rider is joining their club but also the management will be taken to a more professional level.
After a trial period of two weeks Peppi and Kate decided to go for the new adventure in China. “At the club we have very good opportunities to show our own abilities and experiences which we can discuss with them and decide together with the people of the club how to move forward.
Furthermore there is a good working atmosphere and the people are very friendly and helpful”, they said. Also the owner of the club and initiator of the FEI World CupTM Jumping China League, Mr. Zhang Baosheng, is excited about this employment. It is very important for him that his horses get a professional training and additionally that his employees learn what they have to consider while dealing with horses. This is the only way and the foundation for a long-lasting success. Not only is this the principle for the work at his riding club but also this is significant for every single station of the World Cup in China. Therefore another step forward in developing the BIEC as a competent and important base for horse sport has been made.
Peppi and Kate will fit themselves well into the long-term cooperation between BIEC and EN GARDE as an important element for the future. The sport shall have the time to evolve itself and in the long-term view to approach to the standard of the top leagues.
