GL events and Equita present Lyon as applicant for the World Cup Finals
Sylvie Robert, President of Equita’Lyon (organized by the French firm GL events) declared, with the support of the French Equestrian Federation FFE) that Lyon is applying to the FEI to organize the Dressage and Jumping World Cup finales (ROLEX FEI WORLD CUP™) in 2010. The deadline for applications is November 1st.
It has been 16 years since France last organized the Dressage World Cup finale (Bercy in 1991 where Kyra Kyrklund and Matador won) and 20 years for the Jumping (Bercy in 1987 where the American Katharine Burdsall and The Natural won). The last great jumping horseshow organized in France in the senior category was the 1991 European championship at La Baule.
Lyon application supported by GL events and Equita’Lyon shows the strong wish of
France to be part again of the organizing nations of major equestrian events. The next World Cup Finales will take place in ‘s-Hertogenbosch (dressage in March 2008), Gothenborg (jumping in April 2008) and in Las Vegas (dressage and jumping in April 2009).
