Organizers cut budget for World Equestrian Games
The World Equestrian Games are set to begin later this month. Now, the event sponsor, Alltech, is coming to the rescue of the event's budget.
Organizers have cut half a million dollars from the budget.
The Lexington Herald-Leader reports the cuts are from lower than expected ticket sales and construction of the hundreds of temporary buildings at the Kentucky Horse Park.
Alltech is stepping in with nearly $1 million it's raised in the past two and a half weeks.
Pearse Lyons, the president of the Nicholasville-based feed supplement company, says he'll provide $2.5 million in the form of workers.
About 50 of them will move to the Horse Park to help with finances, public relations and other operations.
