Jonathon Millar suspended while drug test investigated

Jonathon Millar, son of veteran Canadian rider Ian Millar, has been provisionally suspended from equestrian competition while his sample from a drug test is investigated by the sport's governing body.

Equine Canada has been advised by the FEI it is investigating a urine sample from Canadian show jumper Jonathon Millar, which was taken during a routine competition drug test.

Following the FEI's standard process, Millar, 36, has been placed on a provisional suspension, while this matter is under investigation. He will participate in a provisional FEI hearing at a date to be set shortly.

The Millar family issued a news release through Toronto lawyer Timothy Danson which said Millar is “bravely battling a serious medical condition as a result of his body's inability to produce a certain essential hormone, which our bodies normally and naturally produce.”

The family added Jonathon suffers from a metabolic deficiency and any drug test would be abnormal.
