London 2012 tickets to go on sale in March

Tickets for the London 2012 Olympics will go on sale on Tuesday 15 March, Games organiser Locog has revealed.

Both corporate bookers and members of the public will have six weeks to apply for a range of tickets before the closing date on 26 April – the most popular being allocated via a ballot system.

Thomas Cook, Prestige Ticketing and Jet Set Sports have been enlisted to supply a variety of hospitality, travel and accommodation packages during the Games.

Those signed up to the London 2012 ticketing database will receive details of the purchasing process and schedule of all 650 sports next month.

“On 15 March, the application process opens to be part of the greatest show on earth. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the world’s greatest athletes going for gold in the UK – a chance for people to see their favourite sport and perhaps try a new one,” said Locog chair Sebastian Coe.

Tickets for the Paralympic Games will be released on Friday 9 September, with prices to be made public in May.

Tickets for the London 2012 Festival events will go on sale in autumn 2011.
