Princess hits out at excesses in Arabian show ring
Princess Alia Al Hussein has reignited the debate about abusive trends in training and showing Arabian horses.
At the World Arabian Horse Organization conference in Qatar, on November 4th, the Jordanian Princess opened the debate of abusive trends in showing.
She shared that spectators are not coming to the horse shows because it’s not pleasurable to watch frightened horses.
Her initial remarks were backed by a few people who agreed that the Arabians should be shown in a more natural way and that some feel that if they do show more naturally, the judges will ignore the horse being shown.
This is so encouraging to see someone so prominent in the Arabian community share the voice of many of us who believe training and showing practices have gone too far! I think we can all agree to continue to speak out against extreme training and handling practices.
