After a third place secured during the First Qualification on Thursday, the DWB mare Quinn G (Quaterhit x Fassbinder) and rider Betina Jaeger went above and beyond during the World Breeding Dressage Championship for Young Horses 5-year-old’s final. Quaterhit’s daughter was awarded the highest possible score for perspective and two excellent 9,7 grades for both her trot and canter, offering her a close-to-perfection score of 94,8.
During the prize ceremony, her rider couldn’t express how proud she was: “She is such a happy horse that always wants to work for me, with her ears pointed forward. As soon as she sets foot in the arena she is on fire and gives it her all”. “Gold is the best feeling imaginable as a breeder” continued Quinn G’s breeder, Helene Geervliet. “As it turns out, she is a true competition horse. She has a lovely temperament and always says ‘yes’ to her rider”. A well deserved champion’s title for the exceptional chestnut mare.
As a matter of facts, the five-year-old’s final top 3 was all about chestnuts! Silver medal was awarded to the Westphalian gelding No Limit (Geniaal x Florestan), bred by Marcel Roerdink, and his Australian rider Simone Pearce, with an overall score of 88,6 achieved by the recently paired couple. “Six weeks ago, No Limit could not even perform this test, so I am incredibly proud of him” shared Pearce beaming with pride. “Everything is new to him and for us as a team, so it is amazing he tried his heart out here” she added.
And last chestnut – but not least – the Hannoverian stallion Beck’s (Benicio x Desperados), bred by Christian Thelker. Together with rider Thomas Schulze, Benicio’s son made his way to the bronze medal with the impressive score of 88,2 and two 9 for both his trot and perspective. An amazing WC debut for the German rider, absolutely pleased with the performance of the one he considers his “ biggest friend”.
A 5-year-old final that was definitely exceptional, with high potential contestants as stated by the jury during the event.
1st place – Quinn G (Quaterhit x Fassbinder) & Betina Jaeger
2nd place – No Limit (Geniaal x Florestan) & Simone Pearce
3rd place – Beck’s (Benicio x Desperados) & Thomas Schulze
«My Toto» Champion 6 year old
My Toto
After a first performance together during the First Qualification on Friday, My Toto and Hans Peter Minderhoud missed their qualification by next to nothing, with a score of 81. On Saturday, the pair had to enter the Small Final to earn their way to the 6-year-old Final taking place the day after, and that is exactly what they effortlessly did!
According to the judges, My Toto (Glock’s Toto Jr. x Voice), the black KWPN bred by Aat Both showed off his talents significantly better than during the qualification: a 87,60 overall score with an amazing 9,4 for his trot and 9 for perspective.
While some young horses might tire and struggle to give their best performances over a long period of time, this was far from being a problem for My Toto who, on the contrary, performed increasingly better over these three consecutive days, resulting in a gold medal on the Final of the World Breeding Dressage Championships of the 6-year-old, with 88,600! “My Toto absolutely deserves this medal, he really tried his heart out.” Commented his rider, proud of their performance.
As for the silver medal, it seemed a bit déjà vu, as Leonie Richter and Vitalos (Vitalis x De Niro) already won the Vice-Champions title back in 2022! The Hanoverian stallion bred by Josef Bramlage was awarded a total score of 88,400, that is to say just 0,200% below the gold medalist, with a 9,2 for his trot and 9 for perspective. “A horse with a grand future ahead of him thanks to his natural talents” praised one of the judges, definitely sharing the breeder’s opinion of having raised a “natural”: “When we sold him as a foal, we already thought he was a super star, a future champion in the making”.
With a great score of 87,200, Zuperman OLD (Galleria’s Vincent Maranello x Destano) and Beatrice Hoffrogge wrapped up the top three of this World Breeding Dressage Championships 6-year-old Final. Two 8,8 for the trot and submission were granted to the Oldenburg stallion bred by Stefan Tietje as well as a double 9 for his canter and perspective. After being away from the competitions for a while due to an infection resulting in Zuperman now being blind to an eye, the pair has done quite a successful comeback. His rider, who also happens to be his owner, couldn’t be more proud of her champion: “I was super pleased we advanced to the final. The fact he feels so great on the last day and only got better as the weekend progressed gives me a lot of confidence towards the future”.
1st place – My Toto (Glock’s Toto Jr. x Voice) & Hans Peter Minderhoud
2nd place – Vitalos FRH (Vitalis x De Niro) & Leonie Richter
3rd place – Zuperman OLD (Galleria’s Vincent Maranello x Destano) & Beatrice Hoffrogge
«Danciero» outstanding 7 year old Champion
After winning the First Qualification with an overall score of 83,325 and four grades over 9 on Friday, the pair Danciero and Anna Kasprzak thriumped again in the main arena, taking the title of World Champions of the 7-year-old!
With two 10s earned for both submission and perspective and the greatest score of the class for his walk, i.e. 9,8, Danciero (Dancier x Floriscount) total score was 86,829. “It is easy to be a good rider on this horse, he gives so much of himself”, beams rider Anna Kasprzak. “He gave me an amazing feeling today; he felt a bit more focused than Friday and his walk was better as well. I am super happy with the result but even more with his progression” she added.
Danciero’s breeders, Zg. Broers U. Weber, couldn’t be more proud of their Champion: “As a foal he displayed good paces and quality, but nothing made me suspect that he would go on to achieve such great things. And what a level-headed temperament, Danciero even seemed to enjoy the prize giving ceremony. In Verden he got silver with Eva and now gold. A dream.” A change of rider for the gelding that went really smoothly and is nothing but promising!
Silver medal was once again awarded to Global Player OLD (Grand Galaxy Win T x Blue Hors Don Schufro) and Leonie Richter, 2022 World Champion of the six-year-old horses, with 3 marks above 9,4 and an overall score of 83,129. The black stallion bred by Henrik Hansen once more made a deep impression on the jury: “His walk is clear, covers a lot of ground and his extended walk is fantastic. We expect and hope this horse has a bright future ahead of him in dressage. We could also call him ‘Global Charmer’”.
The last couple to complete the podium was Lightning Star (Ferguson x De Niro), bred by T. Wilaras, and Kirsten Brouwer with a score of 81,779. The duo that already was awarded 3rd place in 2021’s edition of the World Championships in Verden pipped Diaton and Nicole Wego-Engelmeyer at the post and seized the bronze medal of this 7-year-old World Championship.
