Sunshine Tour: Dermott Lennon wins the Big Tour D; Luca Rosado speeds to victory
Dermott Lennon and Gelvins Touch, won the 1.50m Big Tour D Class today, in an impressive time of 62.96 sec. In second place, with a time of 65.43 sec, was Dayro Arroyave riding Dakar. Third was Spanish rider Antonio Mariñas with Cash and Go; Fourth was British rider Guy Williams riding Depardieu Van’t Kiezelhof and fifth was Italian rider, Luca Moneta on Herold N. The top combinations in this class have qualified for the highlight of this week’s CSI3*, the GP, which takes place on Sunday.
Tomorrow there are 11 classes. The Small Tour begins, with classes from 1.10 to 1.30m; the new Medium Tour, added this year to allow more flexibility for riders here at the Sunshine Tour, with classes from 1.30 to 1.40m; and finally the Big Tour consisting of five classes, with heights up to 1.50m.
Todays’ results for the Young Horse classes are as follows:
In the 1.30m, 7yr old class there were 150 horses overall and 69 added a clear round to their overall scores.
In Section A the winner was Irish rider, Bertram Allen riding Fairytale in 63.88 sec. Spanish rider, Luis Astolfi with Easo took second 66.43 sec and the American rider, Catherine Pasmore with Chantal took third in 67.49 sec.
In Section B, British rider Douglas Duffin with Moonface took first in 65.10 sec, French rider Alix Ragot with Anecdote Des Coteux was second in 66.37 sec and Belgian rider Jos Verlooy with Karibou Horta was third in 67.15 sec.
There were 164 horses in the 1.20m, 6yr old class, with 96 going clear.
In Section A, the winner was Belgian rider Inge Carton with Lot Blue B&V and British riders Alison Barton riding Genesis and Jessica Crosby with Harvey, took second and third respectively.
In Section B the Belgian rider Boy-Adrian Van Gelderen riding Golga, took the top spot. Irish rider Shane Goggins and Go To Fortuna took second. British rider Joe Whitaker with Black Pearl Leone took third.
In the 1,10m, 5yr old class there were over 120 horses and 72 went clear. In joint first place were the Portuguese rider Luca Rosado, riding Calamity Jane and British rider, Sally Hopkinson riding Chilli. In joint second were British rider India Payne with Piña Colada and Belgian rider y Virginie Thonon with Corsica de Greenbay. Two Spanish riders shared third place Andrés Osborne with Carnac Desperrets and Joel Vallés with Calife D’Austral.
