VillaMoura Atlantic Tour 2023: Victor Bettendorf claims the last GP

The VillaMoura Atlantic Tour ended this Sunday with a remarkable performance by Luxembourger rider Victor Bettendorf, who won the “Francisco Moura in Memorian” Grand Prix.

Riding the gelding Simolo de La Roque Z, Victor Bettendorf achieved the only double clear round among the five combinations that competed in the jump-off of this qualifying event (1.55m) for the 2023 European Jumping Championships in Milan, Italy. This was the second GP that the pair won in the 2023 Atlantic Tour.

French rider Hugo Breul came in second with Utahmano Alu (0/4-39.84s), while Irish rider Aidan Killeen closed the podium with Inlaws Orinoco (0/4-39.92s). The best national performance was from Molly Hughes Bravo riding the Irish stallion Hhs Vancouver, who finished in 13th place.

Out of the 42 combinations that took part in the competition, only five qualified for the jump-off.

Filipe Malta da Costa (POR) / Iwan B.

Highlighting the performance of Portuguese rider Filipe Malta da Costa, who took first place on the podium with Iwan B after winning the jump-off event (1.45m) for the world rankings for the second time. Danish rider Emillk Hullundbaek with Irwin came in second, while British rider James Smith closed the podium with Holly.

Show jumping competitions return to Vilamoura in the summer (June 29 to July 9) with the Vilamoura By Summer 2023, also organized by the Vilamoura Equestrian Centre. The Vilamoura Champions Tour 2023 will take place between 9th and 22nd October.
