Von Eckermann and King Edward make it two-for-two in Basel

World champions, Sweden’s Henrik von Eckermann and his super-horse King Edward, posted their second win of the season when coming out on top in the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ 2022/2023 Western European League in Basel, Switzerland today.

Second to go in a seven-way jump-off against the clock, the pair who also topped the line-up at the fourth leg in Verona, Italy in November, set the target-time at 33.43 seconds and couldn’t be beaten.

Three-time FEI World Cup™ champion, Germany’s Marcus Ehning, finished just 0.6 seconds slower to slot into runner-up spot with Stargold, while third place went to Switzerland’s Pius Schwizer and Vancouver de Lanlore.

Today’s competition was the tenth of 14 legs in the Western European League and von Eckermann, who also holds the number one slot in the Longines World Rankings, heads the league standings with a massive 88 points ahead of French riders Kevin Staut and Julien Epaillard in second and third respectively.

The series continues next Sunday in Leipzig, Germany on the road to the Longines 2023 Final in Omaha, USA from 4 to 8 April.
