Watermill Scandic back on track

All eyes were focused on the comeback of Patrik Kittel’s Watermill Scandic HBC.

After a small injury Scandic had some rest and today he showed he recovered perfectly. The combination showed an extremely consistent and smooth test. There were no mistakes or weak points, only confidence and trust. Their test was the highlight of the day and superior. A well deserved victory.

Italy’s national dressage champion Valentina Truppa performed a good and steady test but Fixdesign Eremo del Castegno’s piaffe was a bit less than usual. They performed some very good exersises in the canter parts. One could see Valentina is a very experienced rider who knows how the handle and control her horse. They finished runners-up with 74.880 per cent.

Third placed Ulla Salzgeber was back in the show ring after a short break, but not yet in her usual rhythm. Ulla was concentrated but her horse was a bit impressed by the surroundings and not totally focused on his job which resulted in some mistakes and misunderstandings.

Holland’s Diederik van Silfhout showed a good test with his very talented and spectacular horse Arlando which was awarded with 72.760 per cent (4th). The horse has an amazing trot and his piaffe and passage is great too. The canter work was a bit hectic now and then but they are for sure a promise for the future.

Compatriot Tommie Visser finished in fifth place with Vingino, a gorgeous long-legged gelding with a lot of charisma. They form a perfect combination and showed a smooth and solid test. Apart from the transitions in and out the piaffe there were no weak points. Add up some power and they will be a world class pair.

Home rider Arnaud Serre performed a solid ride with Robinson de Lafont. They showed a strong passage and the whole test showed promise for the future.

Today, Sunday 9 March, the Horse Box Austria Grand Prix Special and the Exquis WDM Grand Prix Freestyle presented by Axel Johnson Group will be on the programme. The Grand Prix Special will start at 11 am and the Freestyle is scheduled for 3.15 pm.
